The first stage of Mobil-Eyes-Us is a pilot project focusing on the favelas of Complexo do Alemão and Maré, in Rio de Janeiro. Here’s how you can help:
RAPID RESPONSE
You'll know in real time when you need to take action on your social networks by sharing and helping with a live broadcast.
BROADCAST TO THE WORLD
If you know English, you can translate events to make visible human rights abuses taking place worldwide.
CONTEXTUALIZE
If you know the local reality, you can help other participants by giving more information or context through comments.
HOW IT WORKS
Mobilize
Frontline activists trigger the app and notify their network of supporters when they need to share a live stream
Support
Users signed up to Mobil-Eyes-Us receive a mobile notification so they can provide quick support by using their social networks to share and broadcast the live stream.
Document
The recorded video then gets archived so that anyone who could not watch it live can find it in the app to still provide support later.

Independent and collaborative media channel made by residents of various parts of the Complexo da Maré.

Fogo Cruzado is a collaborative platform aimed at recording the incidence of shootings and the prevalence of armed violence in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro collected within a database.

Following up on specific cases that show the impact of the Olympics in Rio communities such as Penha , Vila Autódromo , Favela da Skol in Complexo do Alemão and the #FomeDeViver action on the Olympic Boulevard
Largo do Samba
In February 2017, the Military Police broke into and invaded dozens of houses to be used as a military base in a place known as Praça do Samba. Local organizations began a campaign that included a series of live broadcasts and guided tours of the invaded area. We did translations into English, gave legal context and shared public petitions.
